"The Patsy" describes the arrest, trial, and conviction of

Hassen Neby. The trial transcripts are intriguing. Convicted of the murder of George Tucker in a CPR boarding car in May 1918, Neby was hanged on January 3, 1919.

Inconsistencies marred the investigation. Judge Falconbridge and the jury openly expressed bias against the accused during the two-day hearing.

Review the trial transcripts and ancillary documents, and judge for yourself whether The King v. Hassen Neby ranks among the oldest cases in Canada in which a wrongly accused individual paid with their life.
